Housekeeping Supervisor

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION

Providing assistance to the Housekeeping Manager in obtaining the highest quality of cleanliness in the hotel, to provide efficient, prompt, courteous, trouble free, proactive service to customers hence maximizing guest expectation, satisfaction.

TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares schedules as requested in accordance with forecasted occupancy
  • Keeps self updated on available rooms, including maintenance for early/late check-ins and check-outs; communicates information to Room Attendants
  • Supervises the daily activities of all housekeeping staff
  • Conducts daily inspections of the guest rooms, and other housekeeping areas as requested by the Housekeeping Manager
  • Prepare VIP rooms as per the best housekeeping practice and hotel policy
  • Informs Housekeeping Manager about accurate room status
  • Helps and checks that Room Attendants maintain furnishing, facilities, equipment in the cleanest possible condition, ensures that repair and maintenance is executed when needed
  • Brings all needs for repair to the attention of the Housekeeping Manager
  • Performs approved purchases, manages a cost-effective operation for chemicals and other operating supplies as required
  • Ensures that requisition orders for housekeeping equipment and supplies are correct
  • Attests requisition orders for housekeeping equipment and supplies
  • Handles the daily inventory keeping and disbursement for all linen, uniforms, cleaning supplies, guest rooms and rest rooms supplies, laundry supplies, housekeeping related machinery and equipment
  • Supervises all rotational and special cleaning programmes
  • Checks “in house” or “stay over” rooms
  • Checks “vacant dirty rooms” and return them ready for sale, inspected
  • Fills out maintenance orders as needed
  • Checks linen closets and carts for cleanliness and supplies
  • Helps the Housekeeping Manager keeping track of uniforms for employees
  • Checks, equips, and stocks VIP rooms according to instruction
  • Knows all housekeeping procedures to be a resource when needed
  • Confers closely with the Housekeeping Manager, and takes every opportunity to become familiar with all aspects of the position to fill in where needed
  • Is aware of departmental costs; takes action to control labor, amenities, and supply costs
  • Informs Housekeeping Manager about accurate room status and public areas
  • Handles Lost and Found items in public areas daily according to the hotel policy
  • Keeps Housekeeping Manager aware and updated

 Other:

  • Attends meetings and training programs requested
  • Attends to guest needs, requests courteously and efficiently
  • Accepts flexible work schedule necessary for uninterrupted service to hotel guests and the hotel’s stakeholders
  • Maintains own working area, materials, and company property clean, tidy and in good shape; reports defective materials and equipment to Housekeeping Manager
  • Continuously seeks to endeavor and improve the efficient operation of the department, knowledge of own job function
  • Is well updated on, and possesses solid knowledge of the Hotel fire, bomb and emergency procedures:
  • Hotel health and safety policies and procedures
  • Hotel facilities and nearby sights of interest and importance (i.e. hospitals, stations, tourist sights)
  • Hotel standards of operation and departmental procedures
  • Current licensing relating to own department
  • Corporate clients and clients generating high business volume
  • Hotel code of conduct
